How can scientific discoveries be transformed into real-world innovations? How can universities better support students, researchers and startups in developing technologies that address today's global challenges?
The Faculty of Space Technologies at AGH University of Krakow is implementing SPACE-INNOVATE@UNIVERSEH – an international initiative developed within the UNIVERSEH European University Alliance. The project aims to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship across the alliance by fostering collaboration between universities, industry and innovation ecosystems, helping turn research results into solutions with tangible social and economic impact.
The project coordinator is Dr Agata Harasymczuk from the Faculty of Space Technologies AGH.
The project focuses on developing innovation and entrepreneurial skills while strengthening cooperation between academia, industry and European innovation networks. Particular attention is given to space technologies and their applications in areas such as climate protection, Earth observation, sustainable agriculture and digital transformation.
SPACE-INNOVATE@UNIVERSEH also establishes close cooperation with EIT Climate-KIC and EIT Food, providing participants with access to European innovation programmes, startup support and entrepreneurship initiatives.
A key objective of the project is to strengthen the pathways that transform scientific research into innovative products and services. The project will develop joint startup support mechanisms, mentoring programmes and collaboration tools that connect universities with external partners. Researchers and students will receive support in developing innovative ideas and preparing them for successful market implementation.
SPACE-INNOVATE@UNIVERSEH integrates innovation and entrepreneurship into higher education programmes across the alliance. New courses, educational resources and training activities will equip students, researchers and academic staff with the skills needed to develop innovative solutions and entrepreneurial mindsets. Learning will be based on interdisciplinary collaboration, challenge-based education and close cooperation with external partners.
The project is carried out by partners of the UNIVERSEH Alliance together with organisations supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer. By bringing together universities, research institutions and industry partners from across Europe, the project creates a collaborative environment for developing new technologies and strengthening Europe's innovation capacity.

SPACE-INNOVATE@UNIVERSEH will contribute to building a long-term European innovation ecosystem dedicated to the space sector. The project will deliver new educational programmes, startup support mechanisms, improved research commercialisation pathways and stronger cooperation with European innovation communities. As a result, students, researchers and entrepreneurs will gain greater opportunities to transform knowledge into innovative solutions that address the challenges of the future.
