The Faculty of Space Technologies (Spacetech) was established in April 2025 by the decision of the AGH Rector, Prof. Jerzy Lis, at the initiative of Prof. Tadeusz Uhl.
The Faculty focuses on education in the field of space technologies while simultaneously advancing innovative technologies through an interdisciplinary research team. This team is involved in scientific research and supports collaboration between the academic community and the space industry. The Space Technology Faculty at AGH conducts projects related to space education, the development of new technologies, and international cooperation, including its involvement in the UNIVERSEH group.
Since March 2025, the Faculty has launched a Master's degree program in Space Technologies. This program aims to train specialists prepared to work in the rapidly developing space sector. Students will gain knowledge in modern space technologies, space engineering, satellite remote sensing, space missions, and space research. The program offers a wide range of theoretical and practical courses, enabling students to acquire the skills necessary to participate in international space projects and work in industries related to space exploration.

Within the Faculty, there are various research groups focused on conducting advanced scientific work and executing ambitious projects related to space technologies. One such group is the "Science of Signature" team, which specializes in satellite remote sensing technologies and algorithms. This group develops modern methods for analyzing satellite data, which are used in various fields, from environmental monitoring to natural resource exploration.
Another research group at the Faculty is the Materials and Structures Research Group, which focuses on developing advanced materials with properties tailored to the extreme conditions of outer space. The group's work concentrates on materials that can be used in the construction of spacecraft, orbital devices, and other technologies related to space exploration.
The Space Life Sciences Laboratory conducts advanced research in the field of space biology, focusing on the impact of space on living organisms and research related to astronaut analog missions. Additionally, the laboratory works on innovations in biomedical engineering, particularly concerning astronaut health and the development of new medical technologies designed for use in space.
The Space Mission Research Group focuses on the development and participation in space missions—both orbital and planetary. This team is involved in projects related to the exploration of the Solar System and studies on the feasibility of conducting missions on other planets and celestial bodies.
SpaceEduLab’s mission is to raise awareness about space among young people. It works on engaging and motivating young individuals in science, providing them with practical experiences related to space. Through various educational initiatives, SpaceEduLab fosters youth interest in this field and helps shape the competencies necessary for a future career in the space sector.
The Space Society Lab focuses on promoting inclusivity and interdisciplinarity in the field of space technologies. It works on creating space for collaboration between various scientific disciplines and cultures, aiming to develop space technologies that will be accessible to a wider range of people and communities.
The Faculty of Space Technologies (Spacetech) includes the AGH Space Technology Centre, which was established in November 2020 by the decision of the AGH Rector, Prof. Jerzy Lis, at the initiative of Prof. Tadeusz Uhl. The creation of the Centre was a result of AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow receiving the prestigious title of European University, awarded by the European Commission. Both the The Faculty of the Space Technologies (Spacetech) and the AGH Space Technology Centre focus on the development of space technologies and the promotion of collaboration between the academic community and the space industry.
Thus, the Faculty of Space Technologies (Spacetech) is not only a scientific institution but also an important educational and innovative center that actively contributes to the development of the space sector in Poland and worldwide.
