Startech 2024, organized by the UNIVERSEH consortium, has come to an end! From September 30th to October 4th, 2024, participants engaged in enriching workshops.
We are excited to announce that the fourth edition of the Startech 2024 workshops, organized under the UNIVERSEH consortium, has successfully concluded! The event was supported by the NAWA project, allowing us to host students from Ukraine. In total, 26 students from 7 countries participated: Poland, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, and Ukraine.
The participants were divided into interdisciplinary, diverse teams of 4-5 people. The workshops were preceded by an online event where students were introduced to the challenges of working in international teams. Later, Dr. Michał Lupa from the Space Technology Centre guided the teams through satellite data topics, and project development was supervised by Dr. Justyna Topolska (AGH), Prof. Peter Törlind (LTU), and Prof. Fabrizio Quadrini (TorVergata).
As a result, 6 innovative projects were created, including apps and services utilizing satellite data:
- An app for pet owners, suggesting potential walking routes based on surface temperature,
- An app for travelers, recommending clothing sets suitable for weather conditions,
- An app for drivers, notifying about potential obstacles on the road,
- An app for farmers, optimizing the use of fertilizers and water,
- An app for forest parcels owners, monitoring forest conditions,
- An app for people in flood-prone areas, assisting in effective evacuation.
During Demo Day, teams presented their projects to experts, including Jarosław Chojnacki (ESA BROKER) and Dr. Michał Lupa (AGH).
The winning team was PAW SHIELD – an app for pet owners. The team consisted of:
- Samuele Tomassacci (UTV),
- Natalia Drelich (AGH),
- Yana Drebot (NTUOG),
- Khristina Fediv (PNU).
Second place went to Wearther – an app for travelers. The team:
- Veronika Chudyk (NTUOG),
- Hichem Lakhchine (UJ-J),
- Anna Hus (PNU),
- Oksana Mykytyn (NTUOG).
Third place was awarded to Ground wise – an app for farmers. The team:
- Alexandru Ciobanu (LTU),
- Victoria Babala (PNU),
- Michel Tarby (ENSAT),
- Nadiia Verezhak (PNU),
- Iryna Draiovych (NTUOG).
Dr. Agata Kołodziejczyk presented the awards and diplomas during the grand opening of the D-3 building. Congratulations to all participants!
