Space Week is an annual event that promotes space-related topics by combining science, technology, education, culture, and entertainment in a unique urban format. For one week, Krakow becomes a hub for the exchange of ideas, inspiration, and collaboration among students, researchers, artists, space enthusiasts, and representatives of both the public and private sectors. The highlight of Space Week is the international space-themed event: the Space Resources Conference.

This exploratory game is set in a closed planetary system where every planet is a puzzle and every minute is a chance to discover the laws of nature, gravity, and astronomical cycles. Sounds like a game? It’s actually an interactive textbook of physics, astronomy, and philosophy in one.

Discussion participants:
– Dr. Szymon Kukulak (Eduvrgamelab)
– Mikołaj Gąbka (AstroBio Student Association, AGH)
– Moderated by: Gerald Kapałka (Groznawcze Student Association, AGH)

🟦 Debate: “All These Worlds… So Why Do We Need Space?”

Time: 13:00–14:00
Location: AGH Didactic Center, Building U-2, ul. Reymonta 7
Is space just the domain of scientists and sci-fi writers? Or perhaps the real future of humanity? This debate will combine science and literature perspectives in search of an answer to the question: why do we need space?
Organized in cooperation with the Polish Science Fiction Foundation.

Participants:
– Dr. Agata Rudolf – researcher at the AGH Faculty of Space Technology, expert in space biology and astrobiology
– Tomasz Barciński – Board Member of the Polish Foundation for Science Fiction, Head of the Satellite Mechatronics and Robotics Lab at CBK PAN

🟦 Gravity – film screening with expert commentary

Time: 19:00
Location: Kino Mikro, ul. Juliusza Lea 5
Tickets: https://kinomikro.pl/repertoire/83277.html?view=system
The film Gravity thrills with its visuals and tension – but how realistic is it? After the screening, join Dr. Paweł Janowski (Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Science, AGH) for a dynamic presentation analyzing key scenes from the perspective of physics, astronomy and common sense.
Can you really jump between space stations by hand?
What happens to a body in a vacuum?
How do orbits work? Why is Sandra Bullock spinning like that?
And is there really “no gravity” in space?
Afterwards, feel free to stay for an informal Q&A – science and cinema have never been so close!
